Noise Engineering Variatic Basicus

Six momentary pushbuttons for generating gates or triggers!

Bastl Neo Trinity

Neo Trinity is a 6-channel compact modulation hub with great musical complexity achievable with simple gestures. Each of the 6 channels can be either LFO, envelope generator, or a CV knob recorder, while their main parameter can be automated with the REC button. Each channel also features a recordable trigger generator with an algorithmic fill feature to get the inspiration started or to make things polymetric and keep your patches ever-changing. Use the SHIFT button to change modulation shapes and sync selected or all channels to an internal or external clock.

Neo Trinity has been designed with performance in mind, so it includes channel mutes and allows storing whole presets as banks.

Bastl Tea Kick

Tea Kick is a universal analog circuit which is based on improved version of the twin T resonant structure, and mainly inspired by analog drum designs of Standa Filip. The basic principle of this drum is to create a virtual electronic membrane which you strike with electricity, the membrane vibrates and creates a very natural drum wave which, when outputted to a speaker (another membrane) sounds very authentic. To adjust this membrane, we have the TUNE and RESONANCE control. Think of using those as if tuning an acoustic drum. There is a CV input for tuning the circuit so it can change character from a bass drum through all the toms to woodblock. There is main TUNE control knob for the tuning and also a CV Input with ATTENUATOR.

Bastl Crust

Crust is a hard-hitting drum voice and goes way beyond drum territory. It consists of two layers - the NOISE source and dual oscillator TONE generator. Hard-hitting drums need a lot of transient attention and CRUST has you covered with the combination of pitch envelope, layer mixing, FM envelope, and transient shaper with hard-clipping. The NOISE source has built in lowpass-highpass FILTER and 4 modes (white noise, clap, bit and metallic). The TONE has 4 oscillator configurations (FM, FM2, dual and ring modulation), pitch envelope, detune, V/Oct input and timbral SHAPE control. The LAYER fader crossfades between the layers, but also adjusts their relative decay envelopes to achieve drum-kit like playability. The ENV knob makes shortest envelopes in the middle and elongates the decay to the right and both attack and decay to the left making more of a shaker/reversed/synth timbres. The TIMBRE section either focuses on the whole body of the sound (left) or is focused towards the transient (right). The final CLIP distortion stage with either soft clipping with a bass boost (left) or transient shaper with hard clipping (right) makes the drums go super-hard.

Hexinverter vcNOIZ

A unique sounding voltage controlled digital noise source. The frequency of the noise is both linearly and exponentially controllable by analogue control voltage signals. It creates positively raunchy C64-esque digital noise and sounds great for hihats and other sounds as well! There are no microcontrollers used in this design. It is comprised entirely of CMOS logic and analog opamps, so does not suffer from aliasing or any other issues present in a microcontroller-based design.
